ABOUT

I'm Dr.Nes (whose full name is Dr. LaTasha L. Nesbitt), the Aspiration Architect! I am passionate about topics regarding personal development and education.  Most recently I've spoken on areas of race and education, abstinence, and other empowerment topics in places as close as my home city of Chicago to those as distant as Tel Aviv, Israel.

Nearly 8 years ago, I gathered ten of my closest friends and family members who possessed progressive mindsets and challenged them to live life at a higher level! We called ourselves t3-ten people, who set out over ten years to make good on ten commitments. We were charged and ready to go! All over the nation, from Denver and Nebraska, to Florida and Illinois,, Indiana and Texas too, with daily encouragement and accountability via empowerment emails and text messages, we lived on purpose and are still making major dents in our respective spheres! This endeavor proved to be the pilot for what I am doing today with Dr Nes International (DNI). DNI is a consulting and independent publishing firm that empower individuals and organizations to produce real results in their lives. In addition to this, we offer a range of literary publication services.

Public servant Dorothy Irene Height once said to me that, "service is the price we pay for the space the we take up." I believed her! Hence, since social justice is an issue near and dear to my heart, I founded The Nes Foundation. It's a residential diversionary program that offers educational opportunities, employment and entrepreneurial training to males who are first-time, non-violent drug offenders.

More about me, I am a 15 year+ member of Delta Sigma Theta public service sorority. Lastly, but definitely not least, I have spent the last ten years alongside my husband as Assistant Pastors at a ministry in Central, Illinois. During that time, I developed a love for everything about the prophetic office and worship through liturgical dance. Currently, we serve as itinerant ministers empowering individuals, churches and other organizations throughout the U.S.

As for academic training, I received both my Ph.D. and Master of Arts degrees in Educational Policy, Organization & Leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before that, I thought I was headed to law school, and completed my undergraduate studies at Eastern Illinois University in Political Science. God had a different plan! :)

I currently reside in Los Angeles, CA with my husband Dr. Matthew L. Nesbitt and our two small children.  I enjoy organizing and LOTS of sunshine!
